Seeking Guidance : What to expect from a Consultation
A consultation is a time when you can learn both about the doctor you are choosing, and about the cosmetic surgery you intend to receive. During a consultation three things should happen, you should become educated about the basics of cosmetic surgery, you should get to know the surgeon and his areas of specialty, and he should work to determine what your goals are as a patient and develop a plan to reach those goals. In order to accomplish these tasks, the following steps will likely be taken
Step 1: you will be asked to complete a survey. This patient survey will give the doctor pertinent information about your medical history, and the areas of your body you would like him to address.
Step 2: You will take this survey into a closed door meeting with the plastic surgeon. At this time he will review the information in your survey with you, and clarify any issues which may require additional information.
Step 3: Using your medical history and goal information, the doctor can decide which surgeries you are a candidate for and give you some information about each. For example if your area of concern is your abdomen, your doctor is likely to give you information on both abdominal liposuction, and a tummy tuck.
Step 4: After discussion the possible surgical options, you may be asked to change into a dressing gown for examination. During this time the doctor can make very specific recommendations about the surgery required. You will continue the discussion until a specific plan for your transformation is complete.
Step 5: After changing into your own clothes, the doctor will help you establish a time line for your plastic surgery, which may include multiple procedures, and recovery times.
Step 6: You will need to spend time with our billing department to discuss payment options, and the possibility of billing insurance for part of the cost.
